Explore the rural landscape of America with actor, director, and avid skateboarder Jason Lee at Leica Store Boston on April 29. Rural America, as a general landscape and concept, is where Jason Lee finds himself most inspired. Lee has created multiple photographs in California and the southwest over the years, and mostly with black-and-white films. Now living in Texas, Lee had a strong desire to explore the state more extensively. And in color.
Jason Lee’s current project, A PLAIN VIEW, takes us on a journey through rural Texas. Desolate, worn, at times seemingly frozen in a moment, Lee documents these locations with a sense of importance. Through his approach and use of a familiar nostalgic palette, Lee gives us a reason to notice this side of our American landscape.
Topics covered include:
- Jason’s photographic ethos
- 35mm to large format photography
- Why he uses film
- Finding inspiration
- Why photography is his medium
