German premium technical camera brand, Leica Camera Asia Pacific, will be presenting The Debut of “Ethiopia“ by Rosalynn Tay“ at the Leica Galerie Singapore located at the Raffles Hotel Arcade. A total of 18 splendid prints will be on display at the Leica Galerie Singapore.

Inspired by her travel to Africa in 2014, Tay has decided to put together and showcase her images captured on her beloved Leica camera, of the ancient and historical Ethiopia. The juxtaposition of Ethiopia’s rugged landlocked environment and the seemingly easy going nature of it‘s inhabitants inspired Tay to produce the wonderous and personal images that will be on display come the 26 May 2016

Being one of the poorest countries in the world,Tay’s trip was not one laced without adventure. Tay explains, “The one moment that I will never forget was when my 4x4(vehicle) was stuck in the mud for nine hours in the middle of nowhere!“

Mr Sunil Kaul, Managing Director of Leica Camera Asia Pacific shared, "Leica Camera is long known to be at the centre of optical excellance, with a passion for expression, helping individuals from all over to articulate their creativity and personify their visions they have from within. Beyond providing an understanding of photography and the art behind it through this exclusive showcase, we want to share the rich stories behind each picture and draw a deeper connection to the world and its communities.“

Tay, a former editor of Berita Harian who is now turned socialite and photography enthusiast, embarked on her photography journey two years ago when she purchased her first Leica. M-240 with a 35mm Leica Summilux lens. She has not looked back since.

Tay added, “I hope to be able to make a difference to the world by documenting this aspect of humanity through my photography, one day.
