Leica Camera AG, Wetzlar, presents two high-performance lenses for the Leica T camera system at photokina 2014: the Leica Super-Vario-Elmar-T 11–23 mm f/3.5–4.5 ASPH. wide-angle lens and the Leica APO Vario-Elmar-T 55–135 mm f/3.5–4.5 ASPH. telephoto lens.

With a zoom range equivalent to 17 to 35 mm in 35 mm format, the Leica Super-Vario-Elmar-T 11–23 mm f/3.5–4.5 ASPH. offers excellent sharpness for particularly wide-coverage shots. It is ideal for capturing the beauty of architecture, richly detailed street views, imposing landscapes and expressive scenes you may find on your travels. A zoom range equivalent to 80 to 200 mm in 35 mm format makes the Leica APO Vario-Elmar-T 55–135 mm f/3.5-4.5 ASPH. particularly versatile. It is suitable for characterful portraits, exciting shots at events, vibrant travel and wildlife shots and capturing the action at sporting events.

Both lenses will be available from authorised Leica dealers beginning in January 2015.

Together with the existing Leica Vario-Elmar-T 18–56 mm f/3.5–5.6 ASPH. and Leica Summicron-T 23 mm f/2 ASPH. lenses, this increases the portfolio of lenses available for the Leica T camera system to four. Developed by Leica optical designers as precision tools, they offer the exceptional imaging performance and outstanding picture quality for which Leica lenses are famed – in every situation.

Unique in design and pared down to essential functions, the new Leica T camera system offers everything anyone could ever need for pure, creative photography and the best imaging results. The combination of a newly developed high-performance processor and an APS-C-format CMOS sensor with over 16.5 megapixels (effective 16.2 megapixels) guarantees superior picture quality in all photographic situations.

The handling concept of the Leica T is logical, simple and concentrated on relevant functions. At the heart of the concept is the uncluttered design of the touchscreen display. Numerous functions in capture and playback mode can be controlled simply by touching the screen. The only other controls are four ergonomically positioned haptic control elements that are intuitive in their operation.

The Leica T is the first system camera from Leica to feature an integrated Wi-Fi module. Pictures and videos can be wirelessly transmitted straight from the camera to a smartphone, tablet or computer, and can then be shared by email or on Facebook or other social media.

The Leica T camera system also offers a multitude of accessories. Developed especially for the Leica T camera system – and perfectly harmonised with the camera – is the high-resolution electronic viewfinder with a selectable integrated GPS feature. Also available is the new Leica SF 26 flash unit, which provides additional opportunities for flash exposures or fill-in flash for brightening subjects. Another practical accessory is the Leica M-Adapter T, which allows users to mount and use Leica M-Lenses on a Leica T body. Further camera accessories in four trendy colours – melon yellow, orange-red, black and white – and an extensive range of premium bags and cases systematically continue the Leica system concept. Individual accessories build on and complement one another, and some offer unique options for personalised combination.
