Leica Camera AG will be appearing at this year's photokina in Cologne with a unique exhibition concept.
From 18 to 23 September, Leica will be presenting works by internationally acclaimed photographers in Hall 1 - and making art photography an unforgettable experience for visitors to the photokina event. Hall 1 at the koelnmesse was previously the home of the ‘Visual Gallery' at all past photokina events.
The exhibitions will include the portfolios ‘Portraits of Power' by Platon, ‘Arab Spring' by Magnum photographers Dominik Nahr, Thomas Dworzak and Moises Saman and images from the prestigious ‘Facing Change: Documenting America' by Anthony Suau, Danny Wilcox Frazier, Stanley Greene, Debbie Fleming Caffery & Carlos Javier Ortiz.
In addition, Leica will be premiering the exhibition ‘Personal Best for Leica' by Magnum photographer Elliot Erwitt and images by internationally renowned photographers like Araki, Rankin, Andreas Gursky and Hubertus von Hohenlohe.
The exhibitions will be hosted by Karin Rehn-Kaufmann, proprietor of the Leica Galerie Salzburg, and Inas Fayed, Editor in Chief of Leica Fotografie International (LFI). ‘At this year's photokina, we will be offering all visitors to the event above all a selection of impressive art photography in addition to our products. The exhibition concept we developed categorises the works of all prominent photographers within a unique thematic context. Specific colour-coding of the exhibition walls highlights and emphasises the significance of each exhibition and presents them in a particularly attractive way", explains Karin Rehn-Kaufmann.
Many of the photographers whose images are being shown by Leica will be attending the photokina in person to offer visitors deeper insights into their work. Visitors can enjoy live talks by the photographers on the Leica stage daily at 11 a.m., from 18 to 23 September 2012.
