Over the years, many Leica cameras have become coveted collectors' items due to their design, technological innovation or role in history.
Classic cars share the same fate. Based on these common values, we want to introduce lovers and collectors of classic vehicles to the pleasures of using premium-quality Leica products.
Goodwood Revival Meeting
Those interested classic cars and vintage fashion will love The Goodwood Revival. The meeting takes place on the long-standing race circuit of the Goodwood Estate, Chichester, UK. The owner and organiser is professional Fine Art and enthusiastic Leica Photographer Lord March, the Earl of March and Kinvara. The race track was in operation from 1948 to 1966. Only cars, motor bikes and aeroplanes of this period exhibit and race at The Goodwood Revival. The unique festival atmosphere arises from the apparel of the 1940’s to 60’s which each guest and racing driver wears during the three day event. Former racing legends such as Sir Stirling moss and Sir Jackie Stewart participate on a regular basis.
Schloss Bensberg Classics
Leica continues its successful collaboration with the Schloss Bensberg Classics. We are the official partner of this premium event for classic automobiles, that began with Leica's help in 2009. The competitive event for the best of veteran, vintage and classic vehicles takes place at the Grandhotel Schloss Bensberg in Bergisch Gladbach. The programme included a Historic Rally, taking the participants on a tour through the countryside of the Bergisches Land. René Staud, master of automobile photography, captured the elegance and grandeur of the precious icons of automobile history with a Leica piece. At the end of the event, the pictures were presented at the award ceremony and handed over to the participants.
Leica cooperated with the German magazines "Auto Motor und Sport" and "Motorklassik" to organise a one-of-a-kind photography competition. All applicants sent us their best shots in one of the following four categories: old timer, current cars, human and car, and comical snapshot. In 2013 the winners received a trip to the Gaisbergrennen in Salzburg where they had the great chance to polish their photographic talent - using their new Leica - in various workshops with Udo Zell (Director of the Leica Akademie) and photographer Hans-Dieter Seufert.
