Leica M Monochrom
The next level of black-and-white photography
Up on the mountain road leading the West Fjords the storm hits with all its might. The little house on the way was built as a shelter for travelers and if I get stuck, I know I can stay there until the weather gets better. The journey is fun with my new friend, who shows me the world in black and white and creates images, that I have never seen before.
It‘s early morning and the sun is shining on a farm by the south coast. An old man comes out of his machine workshop and asks me if I can find a spare part for one of his many old cars. I photograph him as he looks up, he cannot hear the camera capturing his image. I promise to let him know if I find it. But first I need to finish my winter round trip.
In the radio the weather man says that a blizzard will hit the north and to the north I go to experience the adventure. The mountain road winds like a black snake through the drifting snow and menacing clouds are on the horizon, but the light is beautiful.
Few years ago I travelled this same road but in a very different circumstances. The volcano above us, Eyjafjallajökull, had erupted and horses like this one had to be rescued out of the ash cloud that engulfed the land below.
